General Configuration Of Automobile And Different Systems

The configuration are briefly explained below:

               Frame or Chassis
              The Engine
The Transmission System: Axles and Wheel ,Suspension system ,cooling system,Braking                      and steering system

         complete transmission system of Automobile

Now, let us learn about
Frame or Chassis : It is the  basic structure that holds all the components of the automobile which means all the parts are mounted or placed over this frame.  In a typical vehicle frame the forward portion is occupied by the engine and it is connected to the transmission unit(gear box) by an element called Clutch. The front portion has front axile and back portion has rear axle. The Tyres are connected in front and back portion in order to give balance to vehicle.
The common  Types of frame or chassis are :  X type and box section Frame
If we have to compare the chassis of car and heavy vehicle.. the chassis of heavy vehicle are uniform (Flat )from front to end. Depending on requirement of load carrying capacity the chassis are designed.

The Engine: we can compare the engine of the vehicle to heart of a human..... It is the part which provides power for the vehicle to move... But in Electric vehicles it  is the motor which provides the power

The Transmission system:  As shown above the transmission system has Clutch(control the engine power to gear box), gear box( change the speed of vehicle) and propeller shaft (Rotates during engine on) which transmits the torque from gear box to axle through the differential uniformly for all the wheels for uniform movement of the vehicle

.

Suspension system: Imagine that you are driving a car on road which is not uniform.. and if you want your travel to be smooth on these types of roads then you have to know about the suspension system.. The main purpose of this system is to reduce the wheels to the Chassis so that we can travel smoothly.

Cooling System: Assume you are driving your vehicle for a long distance continously..so, the vehicle  should have a cooling system in order to increase the life of your vehicle engine. This process is successful due to the invention of Radiator which facilitates the cooling in all types of vehicles.

Braking and Steering System: If you have to have complete control to your vehicle braking ( helps to stop the vehicle or reduce the speed in emergency situation) and Steering system to turn your vehicle and have complete control over your vehicle...

But in recent  times Autonomous vehicles are making all the above mentioned processes on its own...

In addition to above mentioned methods.. There are some electrical components used in automobile which helps the user comfortable... They are : Battery( for vehicle light, air-condition ,  The starter( for starting the vehicle with help of battery),Ignition system ( in petrol engine) light, wiper, horn and many more.

Types Of vehicle Drive Mechanisms

Drive Mechanisms: A brief explanation Before knowing about the drive mechanism, let us understand what do we mean by a DRIVE.... DRIVE  is the arrangement (or position) of engine and transmission system in various ways. There are four types of Drives:                                       1.Front Engine Rear wheel Drive.                    2 Front Engine Front Wheel Drive.                    3.Rear Engine and Rear wheel Drive                    4.Four Wheel Drive. 1. Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive:                              This is the most common type of arrangement in 4 wheeled Automobile. Here, engine is positioned in front portion and drive is in back ...

INTRODUCTION TO AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING

HISTORY OF AUTOMOBILE           The First Automobile with Otto Cycle (Petrol cycle) was built by Karl Benz from Germany in 1885 and was granted patent  in 1886.. "Development of this great Invension".... Very soon invension of accelerator for speed control and ignition system, clutch, gear shifting mechanism and most importantly radiator cooling system for engine. Later on devoloping the automobile in the year 1888. In 1893  introduction of the first Four Wheeled Automobile which was having a Four stroke engine. Large scale production of automobiles started in 1902. As years went on.. massive scale of automobile production started and revolutionized the industry... Making its importance around the globe. After several modifications and improvements in design of the automobile , the efficiency safety and performance has become the most noticed criteria for automobile enthusiasts.. The Automobile i...

Does Wheel Alignment really matter?

If you have visited a any vehicle repair shop, you might have observed that the car wheel will be connected to a computerized machine ,where the operators do adjustments and try to correct the wheel position. In short wheel alignment is correcting steering geometry. On a technical note it is maintaining the castor angle, camber angle,King pin inclination and Toe-in and Toe-out distances.  While manufacturing any vehicle, the manufacturer will have certain angles in which the wheels are connected to the axle. For proper driving of the vehicle those angles has to be maintained. to maintain those angles wheel alignment is done. You may think once the manufacturer has fixed the angle, why will it change. But in reality, due to vehicle  movement in irregular roads the alignment  changes. If  it is left unnoticed, it may lead to wear and tear of tyre and vehicle may not have straight line stability and may start sliding to one side. The main reason of wheel alignment is to...
